Worm

I saw a worm today
And it made me feel better about my life
You don't ever see a worm on the surface
Struggling

I watched it crawl back into the earth
Going home
Snuggling into the mud

The sun beating down
Hostile to its slimy twisting body
It wanted to see it
All the same
