Pas(t)ime
my closing eyes
dimming out the noiseless din
tomorrow i will work
come home
tomorrow i will work
come home
when will time begin?
laughter is always stopped
because responsibility is closing in
choking and clawing and easing its way in
all of my life is being spent
doing the things we do
to pay for things that we need
so we can continue to work
to break our backs
to dampen our brows
the many for the few
and still i contemplate
a future where time begins
to be something i look forward to
and not something i look past
